Capital One has announced a new travel benefit for its Spark Miles for Business card. Beginning May 21, 2019, cardholders can receive a reimbursement of up to $100 when they use their card to apply for TSA PreCheck or Global Entry. The perk is available to cardholders one time every four years.
The addition of the credit follows Capital One’s attempt to make travel easier and more affordable for its customers. Matt Vischulis, MVP of Capital One small business card, stated, “Adding this TSA PreCheck and Global Entry benefit is a great next step as we continue to enhance Spark Miles with benefits for business owners traveling for work or pleasure.”
A good value?
Along with the TSA PreCheck/Global Entry credit, the Capital One Spark Miles for Business card offers a 50,000-mile sign-up bonus when you spend $4,500 in the first three months.

As you can see, the average business owner who spends $4,000 each month can squeeze more than $1,000 in rewards value from the Spark Miles for Business card annually.

Once you factor in the up to $100 credit for TSA PreCheck and Global Entry, the card becomes even more valuable. Additional Spark Miles for Business card benefits include free employee cards, quarterly and year-end summaries, downloadable purchase records, no foreign transaction fees, travel and emergency assistance services and purchase protection.
Should you apply?
While you shouldn’t apply for a credit card solely based on whether it offers a TSA PreCheck/Global Entry credit, it is a great perk to have if you travel frequently. Prior to selecting a business credit card, you need to decide what factors are most important to you. For example, if you want to earn a large sign-up bonus and generous rewards rate on every purchase, the Spark Miles for Business card could be a good fit.
That said, while several consumer cards offer a credit for TSA PreCheck and Global Entry, the Spark Miles for Business card is among a select few business cards that offer the perk. However, those cards also come with much higher annual fees. For example, The Business Platinum Card® from American Express offers a credit of $85 for TSA PreCheck or $100 for Global Entry every five years, while charging a hefty annual fee of $595. The Business Centurion Card from American Express, on the other hand, charges $2,500 per year and requires an invitation. The Spark Miles for Business card, by contrast, waives the $95 annual fee during the first year – allowing you to try out the card without a huge financial commitment.
